Policy Analysis
Collaboration: Universiti Malaya, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, Maritime Institute of Malaysia, Selangor State Forest Department, MyMangrove
We work on an analysis of strength, weakness, opportunity and threat of terrestrial and marine policies and plans (including municipal, state, federal and international level) that influence mangroves. The analysis will help us to find any gap throughout the policies and plans to focus on targeted policy action.
PESTLE Analysis
Collaboration: Universiti Malaya, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, Maritime Institute of Malaysia, National Hydraulic Research Institute of Malaysia, MyMangrove
This analysis focuses on past, present and future land-sea threats to mangroves which includes earth observation and model outputs. We also would like to identify impact of private sector on mangroves.
Business case study for mangroves
Collaboration: Universiti Malaya, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, CPD Holistic, MyMangrove
The business case study will be conducted by doing desk valuation of ecosystem service provision by mangroves and existing private sector engagement with mangroves. We want to recognise business case for the actors identified in PESTLE analysis with mangrove investment actions and measures of success and aim to have business champions (i.e. CPD Holistic) to spearhead business case.
Building community engagement
Collaboration: Universiti Malaya, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, Selangor State Forestry Department, Persatuan Pendidikan dan Kebajikan Jaringan Nelayan Pantai Malaysia (JARING)
We will connect with local community members at different locations in Selangor to identify optimum areas for mangrove protection for sustainable use. We plan to co-develop objectives for mangrove management and facilitate community business partnerships for mangrove livelihood investment.
